Hi has anyone worked in a SNF before? I was wondering what a typical day might be...

Thanks so much!!
It's been a while ..I worked as an LPN in various facilities back when agency was hot work. Expect for your time management skills and prioritizing to be used a lot. Med passes are..well..go visit the ltc forum ..they are not my favorite places to work BUT the experience helped me get my current job

I worked for a SNF for 5 years as a LPN prior to this job. Days are extremely busy. Heavy med passes and treatments. I would see if you can shadow to see what a typical day is like. Most times we were short staffed. It is a great job to teach you organizational, prioritization and med pass skills.

I have worked as an LPN since Dec 09 and work at a SNF. I get report, pass meds for about 2 hours, chart, do through the treatment book, then start another med pass for another 2 hours and do my treatments along with the meds. My treatments are fairly easy and not time consuming- dressing changes, various lotions/ cream applications and that's about it. It is usually very busy, but I have a desk nurse who handles the admission! I will start block 3 in August and feel this job is really teaching me a lot!
