Negativity? On allnurses???

36 Lately I've come across a fair amount of threads concerning "negativity", "personal attacks", etc., here and I wanted to say this:

Nursing (and the economy in general) is going through some tough times right now. The job market for our profession has been in a decline for some time and there may be uncertain times ahead in the future. In days like these tempers flare and it's normal, in my opinion, for there to be more venting on a big message board such as allnurses.

I think (my proverbial here) that we all, as a group, be gentle with each other. Try to take what might be perceived as a personal attack as constructive feedback and respond as if you are speaking with a respected mentor. Many nurses here are wonderful sources of information, experienced or not. If you hear someone really and truly getting it all off their chest, don't take it personally. No one is maligning your family tree if they're having a bad day. Let's all listen and learn - one day it will be you needing to vent.

There's probably more in my head that I could write, but I'm a little zoned at the end of a long day.

We will ride this tide out eventually and it will get better, but let's work hard at supporting each other and the group as a whole in the meantime.

I was going to reply with just :lol but the software told me I didn't have enough characters. I believe I just maligned my own family tree.

I intended for it to be a nice thread.

I'm with ya LesMonsterNS! Good post. I know on my unit there are negative people and positive. The problem is, the negative ones always seem to have louder voices!

haha i totally agree! Common we are all nurses here... well, students, RNs, LPNs etc. We all have that caring aspect towards our patients, or at least I do... and I dont come on this website to argue and have people tear me down. I get that enough in clinical So i think we should all be happy and positive! and nice to eachother there is no reason why we cant

What's up with everyone? I believe LesMonstersNS was only trying to promote positive behavior and comraderie on AllNurses. Don't see the need to respond negatively. I agree this site is for learning and sharing ideas so that we may all grow as nurses and individuals. This is the way it is often on the nursing floor, each nurse for themselves and ready to bite! Promote goodwill and no more nurse-on-nurse negativity!

Quote from Honey_BeeI appreciate your post. One thing I have observed, is that a lot of the negativity comes from many of the same posters. I don't think it's the majority on here.
