Hello there i am BSN,RN who recently started working last december 2014.. i just started my nursing career and so far i am enjoying it.. not a easy job i must say! i am working in a rehab nursing home in the subacute area.. i am def not an experienced nurse still learning everything slowly.. now my question for you guys who are more experienced is where do i go from here? like what do u guys advice me to do? i would really like to expand my knowledge and do more since i am a BSN RN. thanks!!
The short answer is keep working, you are still a novice nurse and the only way to become proficient in nursing is by experience. Are you familiar with the five stages of clinical competence in nursing? If not, I suggest you read Benner's 'From Novice to Expert'.

The question is where do you want to go from here? And that answer depends on what you like. You are in a position right now that is allowing you to experience various disease processes. I would say pay attention to the types of patients that you are drawn to...and no they are not all alike. Also pay attention to the diseases that hold your attention...this can help guide you to the next job...unless of course you end up loving it where you are and grow and evolve there. No crime in that.....a sub-acute will surely have opportunities to expand your knowledge.

Since you are working in a rehab nursing home, you might benefit from reading some the threads in the Rehabilitation Nursing section of Allnurses, look under specialities listed at top of AN's yellow banner. Also look in the FAQ section of rehab nursing for several interesting articles written by Commuter.
