Lets Talk Money...

I was looking around the internet for something that estimated the salary of a new grad in my city/state. Well I found it and I was awful shocked. It's insanely higher than I am/will be making anytime soon. May I ask, for those of you who are or were recently (lets say past five years) new grads with no experience, what was your starting wage p/hr, where do you live, and on what unit do you work?

$23 base but $26.5 with 11p-7a diff, Texas, Adult Acute Psych (freestanding private facility)

i worked at prison in philly as a new grad started with 31/hr evening shift ( or 28/hr cant remember exactly) about 3 years ago.

$19.25/hour plus shift diff about $4.50 after 0300 in an ED in NC. That was as a new grad.$30/hr with 5+ years experience in a Cardiac ICU in NV.

I was just offered an ER position in San Diego & the pay is $33.something. I've heard that this particular hospital pays the best in the area. I don't know the differential for nights, weekends, etc.

dang......maybe I shouln't finish getting my RN (currently in bridge). I make 25/hr as a LPN LTC unit manager. Don't tell me I wont make more as an RN.......gezzzzzz

$21.43/hr + shift differential: $2.50 E, $3.00 N, +$2.50 wknds. Med/Surg in Georgia. I am 6 mos in (new grad May 2010) and happened to come in when it was time for annual eval and got a $0.14 raise. I have heard from other ppl I graduated with ranging from $21-$28/hr depending on hospital and whether they are accepting benefits or not with shift diffs/wknds ranging from $3-$5. To Mudder: Our Director told our LPN's that they now have barely 2 yrs to get their RN or they will no longer have a job at our hospital. So getting your RN may be advisable just in case that is something that will start happening in other states. I'm pretty sure with your experience as an RN, you will get more $$.
