Are nursing careers out there for me in DC area???

Hello nurses! I want to start a career in nursing so, I've been doing some research. Once I finish school will I be able to get a job in the Washington, D.C. metro area? I know it's an individual experience, but are hospitals in this area really hiring? I can't afford to wait months or years, I need to have a career. As of now I want to be a neonatal nurse or nurse anesthetists.
Since you haven't yet started nursing school, I expect that hiring conditions and the economy in general will be quite different when you graduate and pass your NCLEX.Conditions right now would not likely be of much help.

Comment:
Nurse anesthetist is a masters degree program you appply to after atleast 2-3 years of experience as a critical care nurse. Neonatal nursing is also something that usually goes to very experienced nurses. If you're looking for an idea on availablity of jobs, search for staff nurse positions which are much more common for new grads. Although in this economy new grads arent getting that many jobs and theres no way to tell how it will be for newbies once you're out of school and pass your NCLEX.

Comment:
Agree with all posts above. Also, there is no way for anyone to know what will happen in 2-5 years. For now, just focus on where your want to go to school and get in.
