The pay is better and the work is not as difficult. I wish I'd done that, but I only got to be a CNA after being a nurse extern at a local hospital, so going for phlebotomy training while I was in nursing school would have been pointless. Besides, phlebotomy skills can be invaluable when it comes to sticking patients as an RN. IV starts are probably one of the most difficult nursing skills, IMO.
