how do you report violations in nursing homes?

Do you go to the DON? Administraion? State ? Higher?
You start by going to your DON. Only if the DON blows you off do you go outside the organization to the state. Look in the white pages of your phone book under the STATE listings for nursing home reporting, there should be a number listed.

you go to your state's BON and look for "nursing" and there should be forms available for reporting unacceptable behavior.you fill it out and send it.

In the city where I live, all of the nursing homes have a designated "abuse coordinator," and this person is usually the facility's administrator. This is the person to whom you'd report violations, abuse, neglect, and other concerns. In addition, the ombudsman is another person to whom you can report violations if you feel uncomfortable reporting them to the DON or administrator. As a last resort, you can feel free to call the state.

I just found the listing for my state. The number for nursing home complaints was listed in the Department of Public Health.

I believe labrador's reference is for reporting individual behavior of licensed nurses, rather than facility violations.

I'd like to report facility related violations, in multiple nursing homes..same statethanks for the info

OP, it is your state's Department of Public Health.

Try looking on the board at the home's main entrance. Where we live there is a number posted for the local ombudsman designated for this.
