new grad program worth the wait?

Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone has advice on how long to wait for a new grad program before giving up and applying for SNF, LTC, outpatient jobs, etc. I would love to get a new grad program but I don't want to wait too long and get rusty! My advice is dont get too picky, i wanted Nicu but I started off on TELE as a new grad, no one wanted new grads. I contacted a friend who was working in this facility and she got me in, it wasnt what I wanted, but it was a foot in the door. I did 2.5 years and FINALLY got in NICU. Although Tele wasnt what I wanted, I took ALOT from it, reading EKGs, knowing the cardiac system, time management, and documentation. its not always a bad thing. , if you dont know anyone, just call, ask for the nurse manager. What are you going to lose?
