No Job Licensed and Out of Nursing School 3 Years

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone can provide me with any help/info/suggestions/career changes (just kidding) regarding my situation. I graduated from nursing school (ADN) in December of 2010 and received my license shortly after that (February 2010). During that time it was really hard to find a job in California (it still is!) and I went back to working full time at my job that I had held since before nursing school to get out of debt. Fast forward three years (to today), I was just able to leave my last job. I have begun to work in the medical field (yahoo!! ) but by no means as a nurse. I currently work at an assisted living facility passing meds. I will also have my BSN this coming May (2014) and have begun volunteering at our local hospital. I am continuing to apply for jobs but I have not heard anything and I am worried that this is because I have been out of school/licensed for three years but still have no experience. What should I do!?! Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
You have a job at a ALF....there's a start to your nursing career...congrats!
you should be able to get a job more easily when you have your BSN. Don't give up

It is your location. A lot of new graduates in CA are having this problem.
Why are they having trouble in California? There are jobs everywhere there. I don't know if you would like this or not, but Home Healthcare is really booming because of us baby boomers and it pays very well. You might check it out. Good luck!
