I failed nursing school one week before graduation.. now what?

I just found out that I will not be graduating next week.. I only got a C and they require a C+... I have been am LPN since 1984 and spent the last 3 years getting all my prerequisites done and nursing school completed.... Now I am devastated.... Becoming an rn was not only my dream but it was a chance to get out of my financial rut.... I was advised that I would need to repeat my clinical rotation even though I completed those hours and have to audit NSG 240... Any suggestions on how to fast tract this? I don't want to wait yet another year.. I'm 57 years old..
There's nothing to do but fulfill the requirements the school sets before you, if you want to achieve becoming a RN. If they're giving you a way to have a second chance, take it.

There is no fast track for this if the school does not offer it to you.

PS I'm really sorry. I can't imagine how crappy this feels.

Are you in one of those schools where when you get one "C" grade you fail? Most times people who fail have been riding the fence for awhile and just haven't gotten the message to change whatever they've been doing and to take nursing school seriously. Whether it's their study habits, test-taking skills, too many outside interests or personality conflicts. Some nursing schools really push you to the limit, expecting you to put their classes as your #1 priority.I don't know your full situation, of course, but short of finding a grading error you'll be back trying to meet the requirements of your school, so a solid understanding of why you failed may enable you to get the grade you need.It is devastating to be so close though. Did you back off a little too soon, maybe thinking you had it in the bag?

I don't know the answer to your question but I wanted to wish you the best of luck. Please keep your head up and be strong! Please keep us posted!

It's only one semester right?16 weeks... You can do it! And you just have to audit the class, not even take the tests or do assignments..That's sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.Good luck!

Here's my thoughts... and you are not going to want to hear it. If you've been an LVN since 1984, how the heck did you fail a clinical? nursing should be second nature to you. If you failed, its for good reason.

Sorry, this nurse was so horribly harsh. Retake what you must do. You have a goal, keep after it, YOU CAN DO IT, DO ACCEPT ANY LESS. DON'T LISTEN TO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS OR OTHER'S NEGATIVE COMMENTS.
