allnurses.com in a vegas pool?

20 Hi Everyone,

I Just wanted to share a story funny story with you and see if you have had any similar situations?

While in Vegas a few weeks ago, I was in the pool with a few buddies cooling off from the heat. We overheard some other guys talking about paintball, which we enjoy as well. We had some good conversations about paintball. After a short while we all started asking where we were from, what we did for a living etc...

It just happens that one of the guys was just graduating nursing school and another just got out of the Navy and looking into going to nursing school. I asked if they ever heard of allnurses.com? They were both laughing, saying that they are on that website all the time! The Student said he has used allnurses.com all through school and it found it a wonderful resource for care plans especially. The other guy fresh out of the Navy said that he has been using allnurses.com for researching nursing schools and really finds it helpful as well, a great way to get information and real opinions.

I told them that I was the founder of allnurses.com and I started it when I was in nursing school about 15 years ago and they were surprised and were like "No way"!! It was a fun conversation.

Who would have thought that allnurses.com would have become the topic of discussion in a Vegas pool?

Has allnurses.com come up in your conversations? Do you tell others about allnurses.com or do you keep it to yourself? Why not share your story
Several years ago when I first joined, nobody had heard about it. But lately, I have brought the subject up directly in nursing conversations, and not only has the other person been familiar with AN, they say they are a member and visit the site! Each time I've asked.

Several years ago when I first joined, nobody had heard about it. Same here, but now lots of people know & use it!

I brought it up in the interview for my current job, of all things. My (now) co-workers hadn't heard of it, and I was singing its praises. Who knows if they're on it, now, but that is one of the reasons that I don't post identifying information (or at least try not to the best of my ability.)

Brian, All ya had to do was stand up, and they would've seen your black and yellow Allnurses.com swim trunks!

All of us at work use Allnurses and LOVE it...

yep, I tell other nurses about it all the time, but none of the people in my pool have heard of it. Not to worry though, it's a well known fact that South Africa's about twenty years behind you guys...give it another six years
