Is there a course to learn about nursing in a 3rd world country?Rating: (votes: 2) I am from Frankston, on the Mornington Peninsula in South East Victoria, Australia. Does anyone know of a course here that teaches about nursing in a 3rd world country? My husband & I and our 2 daughters are considering moving to India in a year or so & I think that I need to do something like this to feel prepared/confident to work over there. Thanks, in advance, for any info that you all might have... Natalie ![]() You should actually consider taking courses in Indian culture and their health care system. There are loads of documentaries that discuss these and public health initiatives in India Comment:
It might help to take a multicultural nursing class. We had one in my undergrad program. In order to learn about nursing and health care systems in other countries, as well as Spanish language, I'm doing a study abroad program in Costa Rica as an elective in my M.S. of Nursing Education program.

Thanks guysWhat I'm wondeing is if there is a course around specifically designed for people wanting to nurse in a 3rd world country, so going into the specific skills needed etc. I actually lived in India for years and travel back there regularly, so am very familiar with the country/culture & know a bit about the healthcare system...but would like to feel more confident about what skills I might require etc. A fellow nurse at work said she had heard of a course like this, but didn't know the name of it or who ran it, so I thought I'd try on this site...Nat
