I am a second year nursing student from NIC. I am researching the topic of transcultural nursing.
I think culturally appropriate nursing is an important aspect of nursing. Focusing on the cultural care beliefs, values, and lifestyles of people to help them maintain and/or regain their health, or to face death in meaningful ways. Understanding cultures and their specific care needs is important in nursing someone back to health. Providing culturally congruent care is the goal of transcultural nursing.
Please respond with your thoughts, stories and comments, for i am doing a paper in school on transcultural nursing.

I did a paper on transcultural nursing too! We all had to do a presentation on one culture, I did mine on Muslums. It was very informative! There are several sites on transcultural nusing, I even downloaded an assesment tool. Zacarias,I applaud you!!!!!!! It is so true that these "cultural guides" are incorrect!! I get extremely offended about the things that say for every culture!! Every person has their own values and beliefs.

HelloAs you say nursing is a job that breaks down cultural fornteras world within a city may be different cultures, beliefs, values and different laws.These aspesctos not forget, we must take into account the factors influeyen in person (I recommend the theory Rebic Leininger rising sun), we must be empathic, tolerant of other people, so that our work is the most appropriate and humane.

I think a very interesting topic to investigate. Transcultural Nursing should be the basis of our profession. Giving cultural-based care, we ensure the welfare of our patients. Along with this we can give confidence and understanding when interacting with them and principalment shows a gesture of respect from us. No doubt it is necessary to understand and internalize in different cultures, and become sensitive to issues related to culture, race, gender, sexual orientation, social and economic situation.
