Vaccines Required for Nursing School

Hello, everyone! I wanted to know what vaccines are required for admission into nursing school. I had just a couple that I got when I was an infant, but will probably need other ones. Any information on which ones are required, and which ones are optional? THANKS
The answer depends upon your school and may vary depending on your clinical sites. In general, DPT, MMR, Polio, Hepatitis B, possibly varicella and flu.

Let's see, we hadMeasulesMumpsRubellaChicken Pox (or we could "opt out")Hepatitis B (or "opt out")Recommended:Flu shotPneumonia shotTests:TB Skin testBut, as Jolie said, it basically depends on the school. A simple email to the program director should handle it. Or, you could always friend someone that's in the program on Facebook and hit them up with some questions.Hope it helps

Comment:
It depends on the school. I had to get the Hep B series, a chicken pox titer, and a TB test. They recommended the flu shot, but it wasn't required.

Comment:
I had to have a tetanus booster, as well as most of the others mentioned above.

Comment:
We had a list we had to prove immunity too or get a booster.MMRVaricellaTetanus within so many years ( I was within the time frame, but had to be boostered for the pertussis part for work)Hep B series ( I had to booster that one)

Comment:
Tetanus within the last 10 years (pending requirement for Pertussis (TDaP) booster, may be a new requirement for some clinical facilities for L&D, nursery & peds)Measles & Rubella Titer, booster if not immune (medical exemptions only on a case by case basis. Other area school requires Mumps titer/booster)Hep B- if had shots, then titer (not immune booster req'd). No option to opt out, get the shot, prove immunity or don't enter the program. If you started the series 1st two shots must be complete before starting clinical rotations. (I had all 3 in 1994, previously immune & now needed a booster)Varicella--proof of immunity or vaccination. (no option to decline, medical exemption accepted on a case by case basis)Two step TB test. If positive or received HCG, chest x-ray and medical clearance required.Flu Shot is not required at this time.

Comment:
Thanks, everyone. That was helpful.

Comment:
TB skin test or chest xray. All other vaccinations, are recommended, not required here.

Comment:
Where is it not required? Because if it was just recommended, I would gladly not have to take them.
