Annoyed....Just needing to vent...Rating: (votes: 1) feel the same way... I rather be at the bedside and actually do my nursing care. I know it's illegal but I know nurses who write what they should be doing instead of actually doing it!!! Comment:
I once saw the words in this order (50 percent of work is charting and other 50 percent is patient care) IIRC I gave vicodin to so-so person and I put initial date time.

I hear ya! When I first started working the paperwork was ginormous. It got to the point that I actually changed my signature. I had a nice signature but after writing it > 100 times a day I realized that I needed to revamp my signature. So I fooled around with some modified versions and ended up doing my initials with a hook (you have to see it). So when you see "my mark" you know who it is and it only takes me a bat of an eye to sign anything now.I had to redo my bank cards and my drivers license and now I'm cool. It's been "cough" years since I changed it. Often times when I sign something for someone they will look at the signature and comment that I must be a doctor or that I'm giving the doctors a run for their money. Nay oh curious one I say; I am an R.N. and don't you forget it.

I agree. The amounts of paperwork that are required are clogging up our work day much like a traffic jam. How 'bout the administrators that have meetings all day and come up with XYZ forms to "streamline" our work ACTUALLY fill them out four times a day while doing a hundred other things (oh, and without making any mistakes, without working ANY overtime to complete the said forms, and while dealing with constant interruptions). Hmmm...

our paperwork is on the computer, but we have to enter our hourly glucose checks four different places on three different programs. it gets old.
