willing to relocate please recommend a place for nursing jobs

i know it's already tough nowadays for american (and american-educated) nurses to find jobs in the us. and i know it will be a lot tougher for me (foreign nurse) but i'm still hopeful. i am licensed in ma and will be going back there on the 31st of dec. i had short period last nov to job hunt. jobs were there, i was enthusiastically entertained and even considered for an immediate start at a nursing facility (even if i didn't have any work experience) but it's the work sponsorship i having trouble with. i have even considered states like vermont, nh, maine and, now, even texas (due to the recommendations of other members here). so, if anybody can recommend any state/county/city/agency (alabama-wyoming) please do let me know. thanks
Check out Dallas Texas, 2 of my friends just accepted new grad positions there and are moving there (from NJ)

thanks for the adviceyesterday, i emailed children's and UT southwestern -dallas. Both hospitals' new grad internship/training for new grads in specialty areas are already full. A recuiter from children's told me to communicate with her on Feb 2011 for the June 2011 program. I guess I need to concentrate with the facilities on the lower tier.

Try San Antonio, TX.

You could be wasting money. I thought the US had stopped all VISA sponsorship for foreign nurses. The reality is too many US RN's can't find work.

a number of friends/batchmates were able to secure jobs even with little or no experience. They also required visa sponsorship (thru H1b). They had success stories amidst the economic downturn. This is why I'm still hopeful. Chances maybe slim but it's still there and worth trying.haven't done any research about San Antonio, TX.

i live in east TN where they have been paying for students to go to school for years and they still are. i called a hospital earlier this year to ask about the scholarship/how competitive it was and she said they had 200+ students on it and had more available. they NEED nurses. i also saw someone on this forum say they moved from california to east TN to accept a job.

Usually you need a social security number to work in the US. As for foreign nurse sponsorship you'll get more specific information on the Philippine forum of this site. Tons of nurses there are looking for ways to become US citizens now that we have visa retrogression. For non US citizens to be sponsored you generally need to be a NP with advanced experience.

loveunltd i am completely aware of the visa retrogression (eb3).none of my friends were np's yet they were able to get the h1b visa some via change of status, others are even visa consular processing.haven't checked out tn. thanks for the advice backatit2

Literally thousands of Filipino nurses are "willing to relocate" to the US. As you know this type of thread is supposed to be posted in the International forum. Quote allnurses "Posts pertaining to working in the US, immigration, or licensure questions specific for the US, please post it under the International Forum."I remember when Allnurses general forum was ABSOLUTELY OVERRUN by Filipino new grads and Filipino experienced nurses asking how to immigrate to the US. That's why allnurses made the rule asking that you post these questions in the international forum.

willing to relocate specifically meant from MA where I'm licensed and stayed for awhile to another state.

North Carolina

How were you able to get a MA license without having a social security number? That seems like the MABON is giving Filipinos false hope. Many US nurses feel the mass importation of nurses from your country has a lot to do with the problems US nurses are facing today. Many of our OWN citizens can't find RN jobs.Hospitals are claim nursing shortages so they can increase the number of H1B visas. It is a political strategy as hospitals like H1B nurses. Foreign nurses have a contract and work under a type of bonded servitude, so are unlikely to complain about unsafe pt to nurse ratios and lack of pt. safety. If you look at the number of RN's in this country compared to the actual number of nurses working as RN's you will realize there is not a nursing shortage, just a lot of nurses fed up with the working conditions. Nurses are now fighting H1B visa's as it is the only way working conditions and safe nurse to pt ratios is going to improve. It's a supply and demand economic situation: by flooding the market with an unlimited number of foreign nurses keeps wages low, and promotes unsafe working conditions. President Obama is also against the lifting of retrogression as he feels we need to employee and retain our nurses first.Nurse RN Jobs Forum - Foreign RN searching for a job in NYC | Indeed.com
