What wound dressing products or cream you use for patient with pressure sore?including red skin or broken skin.thanks.

You tx with what the MD orders. Or if your facility has a standard Protocol until it's seen, do that.

We use Calazime by Remedy for reddened, excoriated areas. For open wound wounds we follow the wound care nurses' reccomendations. The pts usually get a special bed too, especially if it is difficult to keep them off of the pressure area.

Balmex for red areas and the Convatec Wound care Program for Pressure areas.

Mepilex Border Dressings. They are a nursing intervention and we do not need an order.

a facility I worked at pressure ulcer care were done by orders of the dr. Usually it was clean with NS, wet to dry dressings. If eschar was present the order is usually colagenace.
