CHW Bakersfield Memorial new grad interview process

Hello,
I received a phone call from Bakersfield Memorial saying that I will need to complete an assessment via email and from there we will schedule an interview for the new grad program. I asked what the assessment entails and the recruiter told me that it was as assessment of my critical thinking. Has anyone ever had this type of exam/assessment before scheduling an interview (specifically with CHW Bakersfield Mem) and if so, what can I expect? Should I brush up on NCLEX style questions, dosage calculation, any words of wisdom so that I don't take this "assessment" blind, thanks!
I would think that you should brush up on priority-style situations that would measure your ability to critically think (for instance: Which patient should I see first? To which matter should I attend first? Which situation takes priority, and why is it the priority?).A prudent nurse would make it a priority to see the patient with respiratory distress first and foremost before seeing the stable total knee replacement patient. Do you see where I am going with all of this? It's not about rote memorization of facts.Good luck to you!By the way, I lived in Bakersfield for two years and loved it. I wish I could move back to CA, but the nursing job situation is hindering that plan for now.

Thanks for the insight Commuter. I do have plans to brush up on my priority questions, but it's been a while since the NCLEX and since I had to think in that mode. Your advice is much appreciated! Now that I think about it, my question is more geared towards: IF I DON'T DO WELL ON THE ASSESSMENT WILL I STILL GET THE CHANCE TO INTERVIEW? Not sure if anyone has gone thru Baker.Mem interview process and knows the answer to this. Thanks!

I found the nursing care at Bakersfield Memorial to be really scary. They have alot of travelers because the staff does not stay very long....Wouldn't even send my pup there!

CHW Bakersfield Memorial had 58 deficiencies in last year's inspection survey.Facility Information Print page

Yikes! What is your relationship with Bakersfield Memorial, or how do you know of their lack of quality? Did you work or travel there yourself??

awsmfun, i can't send private messages yet but i wanted to extend my sympathies to you. i love nursing and i have worked very hard to become an r.n. and a key concern when going on an interview is, "what is the quality of care like?". as a new rn with literally no actual experience i want to learn from the best and be the best nurse i can be. i am, in fact, desperate at this point but i want to you thank you for keeping my eyes open as sometimes my perspective is very narrow when i see a job opportunity.
