depends on where you work

Comment:
Depends on the State/Hospital. In our hospital (and most other) no difference between BSN or ADN. Starting $ 25/hr, $ 4.25 night diff.

There are literally at least 10 different threads on this. Use your google skills to search for your specific area, and/or please please please use the search function on the boards

Whuch places give you a well base salary?

Comment:
Highest paid area is the bay area in CA ($45-50). Of course it's VERY hard to find jobs in high paid areas, especially for new grads.

i HATE to admit this, but i got a job offer that i actually accepted. I'm getting paid $20/hour...they offered me $19/hour, i was able to negotiate to 20.I turned another job down where i would be making $24/hour. Why did i turn it down?....it was 4 hours away from my fiance!! at this crap payed job i have, im atleast with him. What can i say!??It does make me really kind of upset because its a bigger/well known hospital, so its not like they are hurting for money any...

Canada: 33 to 34 dollars per hour base, plus 5.00 per hour night differential. Varies slightly by Province.Sweet I think some of the US states pay way too low for RNsUp here, our CNA's make 20 to 21 dollars per hour.

Comment:
It's crap for new RN's. Doesn't matter where you are. If you are in California making $35 an hour, it's because cost of living is way high. In Florida where cost of living is low, it is much lower. Look at it as a continuation of your training, kind of like a paid residency. The money will come with some time.

Comment:
Rural Missouri. $17.50, $2.25 night dif. I am however paying $250 a month to rent a two bedroom house.

Comment:
I lived in Florida for years..where in Florida is the cost of living low?? Salaries yeah really low but cost of living..high,maybe not California high but high.

Comment:
BSN isn't gonna get you much, if anything more than a regular RN in most cases...unless you have experience to add, AND the job is requiring some management- but then, ultimately, the salary increase is due to the job and experience, not the difference in degree.
