Starting Nursing salaries by State?

1 I live in pittsburgh which doesn't have a great market for nursing due to the fact there are two hospital systems and the one is buying up everything and putting the other out of business. I hear rumors of being able to make 8-10$ more for similar jobs with similar or lower costs of living. I have about 8 months of nursing in won't be moving for about a year so I will have a year in emergency nursing. I really have no ties here so if I can have more options and also make 10 bucks more an hr I am all for it. I should also have my bachelors by then. I figure starting salaries can give me an idea where would be a good place to go for a newer nurse. Starting salary around here is 20-21$/hr

Please refrain from mentioning the quality of benefits or don't take a job for the money, it doesn't add anything to the discussion. We all know prices, cost of living and benefits vary. Please don't waste time answering a question with a question. I do want to go to gradschool but it seems the salaries don't really make it worth while unless it is CRNA
Oregon...$31, but really tough job marketWashington...$26, pretty tough job market

Comment:
Missouri $21...ok job market, tough for new grads

Comment:
Can everyone also please say if their state is very open for new grads or a tough place to start?thanks!

Comment:
$21-$23 Atlanta, GA areaNot really easy for New Grads to be hired unless they are hired into places they had their practicums at but hospitals have been on a hiring spurt lately (requiring anywhere from 12-24 months commitment from New Grads though upon hire)

Comment:
When I worked in Pittsburgh, as a new RN I started out at 21/hrRelocated to the Philly area for grad school and full time offered ~30/hr. Granted I work perdiem and make more than that per hour, yet no benefits. Cost of living is more out here and the job market is even worse than Pittsburgh.

Comment:
$28, Southern California, very tough market for new grads

Comment:
IN NORTH CAROLINA i was offered 21 dollars an hour at a local hospital and i have 3 years rn experience....wayyyyy to low in my opinion when i was in my i started with 33 per hour but 21 for 3 years some body in nc please help me understand

Comment:
IN DURHAM RALEIGH NC i was offered 21 dollars per hour at a local hospital for 3 years experience which i think is wayyyyy too small. I moved from NY and the pay there was 33 per hr to start as a new grad.

Comment:
starting pay in NC for a new grad (Charlotte area) is $19-20 with an increase after 6 mo

Comment:
NJ/NY area is about $30/hr, but of course cost of living is high. new Grad market is kind is not so hot though,

Comment:
25-27 in Boston area, very difficult for new grads, often taking about a year to find jobs post-NCLEX passing. Still many hiring freezes and internal hiring only.

Comment:
Albany, NY area $20-23/hour, dayshift starting pay for new grads. Shift differentials can get you up closer to $30 if you want to work evenings or nights. The job market seems decent for new grads, they just hired 6 of them for my floor, but all of them have BSN. With a year or two of experience you would have no difficulty finding a position.Oh, cost of living is pretty low compared to the rest of the east coast. Probably comparable to Pittsburgh.
