Which Healthcare fields ARE hiring?

I'm curious about which fields are doing well at the moment.I love health care and I want to consider different parts of this field.But,I don't want to go back to school and then spend 2 years looking for a job.Thanks!
Things might always change in two years. Don't believe me? ask the new grads looking for work now. However, it seems MD/DOs are always in demand!

I think it depends on where you live as well. In some parts of our state, new grads aren't finding jobs at all - but where we are, there are many jobs available. I'm just starting school and won't be done for 3 years, but with the research I've done in our area, I *should* have no trouble finidng a job as an even larger nursing shortage is projected in our city in the years to come.

Therapy / Rehab- Very high demand... PT/OT/SP

I agree with jlpsu. It seems like things are picking up now in my area for all health care professionals, except of LPN's. I'm sure they are finding work, but not in the hospital that I work in. The nursing class from last year found jobs quickly and the longest that I'd heard was 8months. In my nursing class there were 36 of us and the majority of us are all employed now. Some of us, were even offered employment before we graduated. The few people who aren't employed at this time are post-poning employment to give birth or because they've moved from the area, etc. I would have to say, that if you love healthcare then go for it. I think deep down you know what direction you'd like to take. Don't worry about numbers, statistics and what anyone is saying. You will always be able to find a job, so just pursue what your heart tells you to. The worst thing that you can do is follow a career path based on statistics, rather than your true talents and passion. As another poster stated, things could change in a few years. Change is inevitable and it occurs daily. Good luck with your decision!

In my area I see tons of jobs for:- experienced RNs- patient care techs (nursing assistants trained to do extra skills in the hospital)- physical therapists- physical therapy assistants- state tested nursing assistants for LTC/Rehab and home health

My area has a critical need for OTs. If I only knew that 5 yrs ago.

Speech Pathology....if I wasn't one semester away from finishing BSN I'd do that instead.

I've seen PT jobs in Michigan with $12,000 sign on bonusOf course, now it is a Doctoral program.

What area of the country are you in? California pretty tough..

HmmmmWhich HC fields are hiring?The ones in the best position to bring in BSNs at ADN prices.The ones who have night shift positions to fill still.The ones who just got done raising the nurse/pt ratio to unheard of levels AND cut supportive staff.The ones who can't staff themselves on holidays and weekends.The ones who just finished purging out higher paid/experienced staff (which leads to a bonus for the CEO of course).Yeah, that about covers it.

Primary care, dentistry and behavioral health professionals.I think all of allied health is over saturated.
