idk which school apply to..Rating: (votes: 0) My mother-in-law and my sister-in-law both are nurses,That's how the idea of being a nurses came to my mind. I started searching online about nursing schools, and opportunities and I totally fell in love with this carreer. Back in my home country I never dreamed of being a nurse. There I was going to law school and I wanted to be a lawyer. I came to the States just be learn english and ended up marrying and having a child. Unfortunately things are tight, and we dont have much money. To get into a community college will take around 2 years, there is a kind of waiting list, plus 3 years to finish school. I really cant wait that long. I visited a private college called Chamberlain and their program last 2 years, and I can get into it next fall. however they are very expensive. It will cost around 22k per year. I filled out my FAFSA and I am eligible to get a grant and a loan but I will be responsible to pay $1,700 per semester out of pocket. It might sounds untrue but I really cant even afford that. We have so much stuff to pay monthly. Should I wait till get into the community college, which is way cheaper than the private one or should I get a private loan to pay the remaining $1,500 per semester? It seems so hard to achieve this dream. I still have to take a TOEFL test, because english isn't my first language, and I also have to take the placement test. I am really nervous. Is the placemente test too hard?I am not sure but I think it is called FEAS. i honestly say $1,700 per semester is not bad at all!! My cc here the total cost for the 2 year ADN program is about 5k. so, if you divide that by 4 semesters the total for each semester would be $1250. I say if your really committed to being a nurse then go through the Private route and take out a private loan to help you out. But if your unsure about the career i would say attend a CC take some prerequisites and see if nursing is for you. |
