Some past school-related mistakes

So I would like to introduce myself as a hopeful future nursing student. It took me years to figure out what I wanted to do, and in those years, I made mistakes as far as my grades go. I have since transferred to another state, my GPA is reset, but those flaws on my transcripts are still there. I've taken the pre-req courses and gotten A's, B's, few C's, but I'm worried as to whether those W's and F's in my transcripts are going to make it even harder for me to get accepted. I know this is a Career thread, but I'm posting in here to get the advice of those who have already finished school and see if any of you have had this, or did you always know you wanted to be a nurse. Becoming an RN has become a passion of mine in the past few years, and I'm working harder than I ever have to accomplish this goal, I'm just worried that Nursing schools will take a look at my transcripts and laugh in my face. I'm preparing myself to apply to three different Nursing schools in the area in January.
Every nursing school has their own criteria. Some are based on cummulative gpa, others are based on gpa of just the pre-reqs so you have to figure that out first.Bottomline, worse case if your grades on pre-reqs are generally over 3.2 to 3.4 and a school goes on pre-req gpa, you should be ok.However, other factors go in to it as well. Some schools require the TEAS, NALN test, etc. You have to state what the requriements are of each school and the demand for the period for when you intend to apply.
I'm curious - what do you mean by "my GPA is reset"? I only know of one school that allows students to do one do-over by declaring an official "academic bankruptcy" and actually start over if they totally messed up on a semester. They remove all trace of the former classes.... it's an all-or-none decision & completely wipes out one semester's worth of information. I think it's a good idea & would like to know of other schools are offering this also.
If I were you, which I know is physically impossible, I would talk directly with a school representative. That is the only way you are going to know! Good luck to you and your endeavors.
