Telecommuting position outside state of residence

I have been applying for telecommuting positions within my state. But I wonder, can I apply for positions outside my state? Most applications will give a location, the city and state, and require an active license within my state of residence. However they don't specifically say an active license within the state that the job is located. These are 100% telecommuting positions. All from home. I would be willing to obtain a nursing license in the state needed for the position, but of course upon hire, not just to apply. Is that something that is done or needed for telecommute?

Anyone experienced in this area? Any advice? I have been an RN for 10 years and have never worked from home, but it's something I'd like to do. Thank you in advance.
Depends on exactly what the job entails. If it involves direct patient 'care' or interaction in a way that directs or influences patient care, chances are that you will need to be licensed in that state. However, it is is purely administrative (e.g., claims review) you probably won't need it.
